Sustainability in All Aspects of Everyday Life - An Internship Blog

August 16, 2018

My name is Dylan Spralja and I am a 24-year-old student at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California. I am a clothing design major with a great passion for sustainability, better business, and preservation of our environment. I am currently enrolled in Derek Sabori’s sustainability courses at Orange Coast College (OCC) with the hope to pursue a clothing design career in sustainability and promote better and transparent business.

I grew up in San Clemente, a small beach town in Southern California. Some of my favorite early childhood memories include growing vegetables in my backyard with the help of my parents, riding bikes with childhood friends through local canyons and hills, and even having foot races and swimming with my grandpa at the beach. I love nature. I am now an organic vegan who also grows organic fruits and vegetables at home (I just learned about the complicated process of certified organic labeling - more on that in another blog). I believe everyone is responsible for living a transparent sustainable life because it is only right to take care of the environment that we call home.

I am currently interning for Derek and blogging to reach out to anyone who is interested in a more sustainable and “eco-friendly” lifestyle. These decisions are rather simple and can really have a huge impact on the world. I will also be reviewing a few great documentaries to inform you of current issues and possible solutions for the United States of America and also the rest of the world. This blog will also be a place to discuss better business lifestyle products or any topics of sustainability and/or environmental preservation.

I wish everybody only the best on their sustainability journey; whether you are just putting your toes in the water or riding the wave, completely.
