The Underswell Membership Community

A steady stream of sustainability-focused lessons, updates, information, opinion, resources, and community for the Apparel Industry & beyond.

All in One Place.

The Underswell Movement, a monthly membership community led by Sustainability Coach, Derek Sabori, is the place to stay connected and to continue your learning journey for all things sustainability and climate related in the apparel industry.

It’s a place for us to move the industry forward.

Each of us has so much to offer, and because we are all still learning, I wanted to create a sort of global classroom - A place where I can teach and discuss, bring in guest speakers and outside experts, share resources, offer opinions, stimulate conversation, and moderate debate.

As a Monthly Member, you get:

✔️Access to the School of Understanding LT version – Monthly members have access to The Sustainability Essentials, Part 1: A 12-lecture sustainability course focused on the core concepts, key timelines, inspiring resources, important players, and must-know vocabulary.

✔️Mini Lectures (pre-recorded) on must-know topics, how-tos, innovations, solutions, and more

✔️An Industry Spotlight on brands, organizations, materials, people, events, etc. Who’s doing what? What’s good, what’s lagging? What's driving us forward?

✔️Live Q&A Sessions that allow you to send in your questions or meet me on the chat so we can get your questions addressed.

✔️An Industry Guest Q&A Session – We’ll talk about careers, initiatives, perspectives, challenges, outlooks and more. Freeform, with your questions answered.

And access to The Underswell Movement Benefits:

  •  The Current - An "In the News" feed with current events, highlights on topics, and things you need to be aware of w/ commentary
  •  The Forum – A community forum to engage & network
  •  The Guides - Access to living resource guides (best of lists, things to know, etc.)
  •  The Perks – First to know about special events, and discounts* on all additional programming outside of the membership forum.
*discounts vary according to membership status (the longer your commitment, the steeper the discount)

The monthly membership program is for anyone - at any level - who appreciates apparel brands in the active, boardsports, and lifestyle space and wants to stay tuned in to sustainability & climate related issues in the industry.

You might be a merchandiser for a surf + skate brand, you may own a lifestyle apparel brand, you may be a product developer, a marketer, a retail manager…You might work at a brand, with a brand, or you might buy from a brand, or you might be trying to get a job with a brand...But above all else, you are passionate about the idea of doing business more responsibly and making the products that we use and love more sustainably. Additionally, you’ve got a passion for learning about sustainability in this space and applying it to whatever role you play.

Typically, industry organizations and memberships are for “brands,” leaving access to all the benefits to a select few. This is a place for individuals to come together and get access to sustainability info, resources, community, and explanations that you can put to work immediately.
